The Jura ENA 5 is discontinued. If you are looking to buy one, the current equivalent is the Jura ENA 4 at approximately $799.
What Was the ENA 5?

Should You Buy a Used ENA 5?
A used ENA 5 in good condition from a reputable seller can be a reasonable purchase if priced below $350. Key considerations:
Check before buying:
- Brew count history (if the seller can provide it). ENA 5 brew units are rated for approximately 15,000 cycles before requiring service.
- Whether the seller has the original descaling certificate or maintenance history
- Return policy - super-automatics can have issues that only appear after a few weeks of use
Skip the used ENA 5 if:
- Price is above $400 - at that point the ENA 4 at $799 new is a better long-term value
- No return option is available
- Seller cannot confirm the machine has been regularly descaled
Current Alternative
Jura ENA 4 - The ENA 5’s Direct Replacement
Same compact design, newer G3 grinder, 8 specialties (vs 5), full J.O.E. app support. Available new with 2-year warranty.

If you are evaluating a used ENA 5, check these points before committing:
Brew unit condition: Remove the brew unit (side panel access) and look for heavy coffee residue buildup. A properly maintained machine will have a reasonably clean unit. Thick, compacted buildup suggests skipped cleaning cycles, which accelerates wear on internal components.
Grinder noise: Run a shot and listen. Excessive rattling or a grinding tone louder than expected indicates worn G2 burrs. Unlike brew unit maintenance, grinder replacement on the ENA 5 is a service-level repair, not a user fix.
Descaling history: Ask the seller directly. Hard water scale inside the thermoblock is the most common cause of ENA 5 heating problems. A machine that has never been descaled in 3-4 years of use is a high-risk purchase regardless of how clean it looks externally - internal scale does not show on the outside.
Water tank seal: Check that the tank seats firmly without rocking. A loose tank on an older ENA 5 can cause slow leaks that are difficult to trace without opening the machine.
For machines priced below $300 with a verifiable maintenance history, the ENA 5 remains a capable daily driver. Above that, the ENA 4 at $799 new becomes the stronger long-term choice.
